SURPRISES IN STORE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

There was more than one surprise in store for a group of senior citizens invited to a Christmas tea party.

Guests were entertained by a group of musicians and Santa made an unexpected appearance at the event which was organised by Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club.

Nearly 70 elderly people living in the Shrewsbury area were treated to a special Christmas tea at the Barnabas Community Centre.

They also enjoyed a carol service and readings by Rotarians.

Said principal organiser Rotarian John Yeomans: “It was a pleasure to see the smiling faces of our guests as they sang along to many popular songs including traditional Christmas favourites.”

The daughter of one female guest wrote afterwards: “My mother had a fantastic time. She speaks highly of how well she was looked after by the gentleman who provided the transport and the generosity of the Rotary Club for putting on such a lovely afternoon of cheer. Thank you all so much for what you do for the community.”
