SANTA AND SLEIGH’S SURPRISE VISIT TO A SHREWSBURY SCHOOL

Children at a Shrewsbury primary school were in for a big surprise when Santa and his sleigh suddenly arrived at the school gates and there was more excitement to follow at The Grange School, Harlescott, when Santa presented a book as a Christmas present to each of the 180 children.

“The sleigh and Santa were a joint treat for all the pupils,” said head teacher Charlie Summers.

“Our thanks to Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club for organising the event which has brought the term to a happy ending,” she added.

Said Rotarian Kerry Ferguson, a member of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club who organised the visit: “We have been involved with The Grange School for many years in a number of ways, but particularly with reading initiatives which are so essential to children’s development. We have provided books for Christmas presents for several years and hope that it helps the children to develop their reading skills and enjoy the beauty of storytelling,” he added.
