ROTARY SLEIGH’S £4,500 FOR CHARITY

Appearances by the ever-popular Rotary sleigh in and around Shrewsbury have raised £4,500 for charity.

The Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club sleigh with Santa and elves made more than 20 appearances, mainly at local supermarkets, over the festive season.

Club president Rotarian David Morris described the fundraising as ‘extremely good’ and thanked Rotarians and helpers for their ‘magnificent efforts’. He said today: “We cannot thank the people of Shrewsbury enough for digging so deeply into their pockets in order to help our local charities out.  We clearly recognise that this has been a very difficult year for most families, but we can certainly assure all of those people that have made donations that the money raised over the last few weeks will help to sustain a wide range of locally deserving causes as we move through the coming year.”

He added: “A big ‘Thank You’ from all of our group members to everybody we met – and spoke to – during Santa’s visit’.”
