ROTARY RESPONSE TO CRUCIAL CREW APPEAL

ROTARY RESPONSE TO CRUCIAL CREW APPEAL

Our Rotary club is again supporting a funding appeal from the organisers of a major event that helps 1,500 children from 40 to 60 primary schools in the Shrewsbury and Oswestry areas.

Members of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club have agreed to donate £200 to this year’s Crucial Crew event on top of the £250 the club gave last year. If the June 7-18 event is again cancelled this year Rotary will continue to issue safety work books to schools which happened in 2020.

The Crucial Crew event for 1,500 year six children (11 year olds) from over 50 schools in Shropshire enables them to receive social awareness and safety training as a means of teaching them essential life skills.

Said Rotarian John Yeomans, chair of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club’s community and vocational committee: “This is a worthwhile project important to the lives of these young people.”
