ROTARY CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN

ROTARY CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN

A Rotary club will again be giving every child at a Shropshire primary school a book as a Christmas gift and before the end of term Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club has promised to send Santa along to The Grange School at Harlescott to present the books in person to each of the children.

The club has again agreed to give £500 to cover the cost to ensure every child receives a Christmas gift this year. It is the latest donation from the club which has supported The Grange School throughout the time that Mrs Charlie Summers has been at the helm.

The headmistress, who took over at the school eight and a half years ago, recently spoke to Rotarians about its progress which has included an Ofsted ‘good’ rating in 2019. She told how she has worked on building up the ethos of the school by introducing the concept of a ‘Granger’.

This term encompasses anyone connected with the school, pupils, teachers and parents, and attempts to install a sense of pride and belonging with all stakeholders.

In acknowledging the support The Grange has received from Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club over many years, she said its ‘huge contribution’ had made a big difference to the wellbeing of the school. She extended an open invitation to any club member to visit The Grange.
