GET ON YOUR BIKE FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE FROM STALWART BOB, 81

Stalwart Rotarian Bob Scaiff is actively encouraging his club colleagues to join him in a novel fundraising cycle ride. The 81 year old is set to compete in The Border Randonee on May 18.

Bob has entered a Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club team and is now actively inviting fellow members, families and friends to show support in raising funds for Shrewsbury Food Hub and Rotary charities. The start is at Llandrinio Village Hall from 8.30 am and he is confident they should go round the 32 mile course in three and a half to four hours with the event also including a hill walk, coffee stop at the halfway mark and lunch.

There is also a 62 mile route which will take cyclists deeper into Wales with the climbs involved higher. The same feed stations/check points will be available. “Age doesn’t have to be the barrier,” said organiser Rotarian Philip Freeman of Shrewsbury Darwin Rotary Club. “The cycle ride offers a great activity to share with family and friends as an experience. It is a journey that is both beautiful and as challenging as those taking part want it to be.”

Electric bikes are allowed to participate in the event.
