A local Rotary club is ‘honoured and thrilled’ to have received a certificate of appreciation from the registered charity Operation Sabre. The charity, based in Stoney Stretton, has presented the certificate to Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club in recognition of their support and donation of £750.
The gift is to provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees fleeing into Romania as a consequence of Russian hostilities. The club has previously supported Operation Sabre and one of its recently retired members, who requested a donation, has actually visited Romania with Shropshire firefighters. Since 2012 the charity has donated over fifty fully equipped fire engines and 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid to remote communities in Romania. Working with trusted partners in Romania, the charity has recently donated almost £30,000 to support Ukrainian refugees.
Said Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club president John Yeomans: “We are honoured and of course thrilled to have received this certificate of appreciation from Operation Sabre.”
